An internship is a temporary job taken by students before graduation, generally in a field related to their major. The hands-on experience gained during this short term assignment compliments the theoretical knowledge acquired and will be considered favorably by potential employers in the future. There are places available for both graduate and undergraduate students, but competition for internships can be fierce especially in today’s slow economy.
Why Get an Internship?
The experience gained during an internship will greatly benefit the student when it is time to leave college and join the workforce. A comprehensive internship will have provided hands-on involvement including many of the skills or responsibilities required by the student’s chosen career path.
